posts here have becoming increasingly rare… partly due to time (or rather the unwillingness to commit time), and partly due to the lack of things to write. once upon a time I actually had time to write more “thinking” posts, but it seems like I’ve got nothing much to say/ask here these days. Even when I do, they’re really short. I wonder if it’s because I’m thinking less…

It feels kinda refreshing to wake up at 7am after a “double chiong” and a long sleep. Looking forward once again to the holidays… (less demoralizing than exams) so… james, gonna have gathering at your house again near Christmas?

Macs and Geeks?

This post is a little overdue, but here it is anyway…

Joshua(tj) has finally succumbed to the need to buy a laptop… and after searching and researching, this hardline PC user has finally settled on a…

No kidding… a MacBook.

So anyway, he’s still getting used to it, finding his way around. And whenever I try to use his laptop, I also get that noobish feeling… Constantly forgetting where the close window button is… having trouble navigating… having trouble typing… After all, I’ve spent pretty much all my time in Windows and Linux… Macs are different creatures.

There was something that was familiar though… felt right at home after I found it…

All that advance technology put into the GUI… and I use a console terminal.

Music – it really has strong capacity to jog old memories. Past events. Past commitments. I’ve mentioned before that playing guitar before sleeping can cause me to enter corridors of nostalgia – more so late at night. The so called “4am effect”. Well, this time it wasn’t just before sleeping, but it was songs “from a different time.” Perhaps you could call it from a time before clouded thinking. Before endless doing. Before the “modern dystopian age”.

It could be bad, I guess, if it eggs me to keep dwelling in the past. To long for the way things were. But i’ll like to think I’m over that now. It does reminds me of where I came from. Of the stands I took. Where i’ve come. Whether this is where I should be. And most importantly, whether I am what I should be.

Things fly by fast… half way through the semester already. “playing catch up” – that’s the standard answer to “how are you?” these days. I was gonna write about something substantial, but never got round to it, and now I’ve forgotten what it was…
